How the pattern generator works

Three kinds of repeat
Full drop, half drop and brick. Half drop is common on fabric and wallpaper: every column drops by half a tile. The generator turns it into a normal rectangular tile, so it works in any program, Spoonflower included.
What you can make
Cards, wrapping paper, fabric, tumblers, backgrounds for your Etsy shop or digital patterns to sell. You choose the size in centimetres or inches, and 150, 300 or 600 DPI.
What you need
An iPad or computer with an ordinary browser, like Safari, Chrome or Edge. Nothing to install. After the first time the generator also works offline, and your files stay on your own device. On an iPad you export tiles up to about 33 by 33 cm (13 by 13 inches) at 300 DPI. On a computer you can go bigger.

Questions about the generator
Do I need to be able to draw?
No. You can also use photos, scanned drawings or motifs you bought, as long as you're allowed to use them.
Can I sell what I make?
Yes. Patterns you make with your own motifs are yours. Only the generator itself may not be shared or resold.
Does it work on my iPad?
Yes, in Safari. You can also add it to your home screen. Very large exports at 600 DPI work better on a computer.
On how many devices?
One. You open the generator with your licence key on the device you use it on, for example your iPad.
Is it a subscription?
No. You pay once and keep access for as long as we offer the generator.
Are my designs uploaded?
No. Everything happens on your own device. We never see your motifs.
